After six months of planning, The Doll Affair is finally over, and everyone on the comm who was chewing on their nails and losing their sleep over it can finally heave a sigh of relief, pat ourselves on the back and start looking forward to next year.
When Elsie first talked about this idea back in June 2007, I gave pause to think and wonder if I could really handle such an event. After all, look at all the cosplay clubs in Singapore with all that internal strife and drama. (hemhem) After a small discussion with Mel, I decided to take the plunge, and then broached the idea to the Sparklies of us being the committee for the event.
Without the unique abilities of each and every person on the committee, we wouldn't have been able to bring TDA about. Everyone worked hard at their appointed task, everyone was responsible and trustworthy, and I was really very glad that I had this committee with me to work on TDA.
Thanks so much to my committee-
night_child80, my number 2, thanks so much for your organised paperwork, for keeping me sane, for all the times when I had to rant about some nitty gritty detail in the greater plan of things.
blue_meddy, door bitch, ticketing meister, thanks for keeping all of those numbers STRAIGHT. And money too! Let's go get that joint account (and exec condo~~)
starsthatshine, the cutest designer ever, thanks for putting up with the countless times I had to make you redo the website, or the banner, or the EOY advert, or everything else...
gothiquelolita, media savvy person, wah rau call the Chinese media down and then don't want to do the interview? =p Thanks for being excellent at your job, you really publicised the event well.
erushi, booth pimp!!!, wow, to think that we thought we had problems inviting venodrs to come... We had 12 booths in total... and all of them did really well! Hooray!
lavenderlilz, legal advisor, thanks for everything, and making sure we didn't land ourselves into trouble... haha.
TDA 2007 was conceptualised small, and the explosion of the crowd today really made us sit back in shock and realise that the community certainly has grown. Fortunately we had a cafe outside which provided some more space for the event goers.
One of the things that thrilled me no end was that event-goers would buy items in the hall, then come out to the cafe and change their dolls into the new outfits/wigs/etc. That was just awesome.
To that, we need to thank our wonderful vendors and sponsors,
Domuya (who sponsored our Venturo!)
Honig Doll (SO GENEROUS, even though they didn't come down!!)
Tangled Web (who also did the beautiful faceup on Leif)
VeryBerry (and etcetcetcetc)
Kstarr (sorry we had to chase you out of the hall! ;___;)
Angel.Candy-Rock (SNAP still wish I could have grabbed those clothes!!)
Hallucinog3nic Studios (Glad you girls did well and enjoyed yourselves!)
Black Angel (Hope you guys had a good sales day.)
Amethyst Collezione (Didn't really get a chance to speak to you, hope you guys did well!)
Valse du Ciel (Hey Aramaki, your hats are sooooooo cute!!!)
Secret Letters (Congrats on good sales!!)
S:thete (YOU SOLD YOUR GOLD DRESS XD XD)
Stardoll (I know it was just a display booth, but glad you guys could come!)
Kuro Rozen (Hope you guys work out the issues with the supplier soon!)
Simply J (Thanks for choosing to come down to TDA!)
The crowds who came for the event to see these sponsors were crazy, and for all the crowd control and general running around, I'd like to thank-
sassystrawberry, for helping us with so many things!
ivoryfox, thanks for taking the photographs! (although I haven't seen them yet, haha)
The boyfriends who had to come down because their girlfriends said so-
Wai, Randall, Lester and HanhowThe guy who had to come down because we more or less forced him to-
PeteThe most thanks honestly goes to Lester and Pete, who were SO patient with the crowd and so good with the crowd control and queue. I'm really glad that I could have trusted the queue to you two to handle. Thanks so much.
But most of all, thanks to everyone on my flist who made their way down to YMCA, put up with the crowds, squeezed their way all around the hall, and spent all their money away. Thank you so much, without you guys TDA would not have been possible. Hope to see everyone next year!
With that, the TDA 2007 thanks are over... here's looking forward to 2008!
